Clinical Services Director - Hospice


LOCATION: Missoula, MT

JOB TYPE: Full-Time Permanent


An established and mission-driven hospice organization is seeking an experienced Clinical Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for its clinical team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a registered nurse with hospice leadership experience who is passionate about delivering exceptional end-of-life care while mentoring clinical professionals and driving quality outcomes.

In this leadership role, you will oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of the hospice program, ensuring patients and families receive compassionate, high-quality care while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.


What You'll Do

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all hospice clinical operations and patient care services.
  • Mentor, coach, and support Clinical Supervisors and interdisciplinary team members to promote professional growth and clinical excellence.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop staffing strategies, monitor productivity, and respond to changes in patient census.
  • Participate in budgeting, resource planning, and operational decision-making.
  • Recruit, onboard, develop, and evaluate clinical staff while fostering a positive and supportive team culture.
  • Ensure patient records, documentation, and clinical practices meet all state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
  • Lead orientation, continuing education, and ongoing competency development for clinical personnel.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives, performance metrics, and patient safety programs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing organizational policies, procedures, and clinical best practices.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships within the healthcare community to support hospice education and referral development.
  • Serve as the acting Executive Director when needed.


What We're Looking For

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least three years of leadership experience within hospice or a closely related healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Strong understanding of hospice regulations, accreditation standards, and quality improvement processes.
  • Experience with staffing, budgeting, performance management, and operational oversight.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable collaborating with physicians, referral partners, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
